Marshall & Lynn Epstein

Marshall & Lynn Epstein

Owners & Farmers Extraordinaire

Having grown up at Rosedale Farms, Marshall remembers fondly the days where Rosedale had a small dairy herd, a hen house and a rather successful milk route throughout the area. Absorbing information on growing vegetables on this particular piece of land from his father, Lou, Marshall took over the reins in 1983 and has fully embraced the farm life along with his wife Lynn. Together they’ve raised three daughters in the farming tradition along with four grandchildren representing generations three, four, and five respectively. While the dairy herd may be gone, the commitment to raising only the finest sweet corn, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables is stronger than ever.

It takes quite a bit to run a farm as large and diverse as Rosedale Farms & Vineyards. There are many moving pieces that either fall into Marshall or Lynn’s wheelhouse. Marshall focuses more on the fruit and vegetable production while Lynn specializes in her incredible flower bouquets. Marshall also hand selects all produce that we bring into Rosedale Farms that we don’t grow ourselves and has developed wonderful working relationships with other local farmers.

While Marshall may grow and foster the relationships that allow for all the produce to be available to our customers, Lynn manages the entire CSA program from start to finish. Lynn’s organization and thoughtful administration of coordinating farm functions has allowed Rosedale to venture into weekend wine tastings as well as spectacular weddings and corporate outings.

In a few short years, Marshall and Lynn will be celebrating fifty years of marriage. Marshall and Lynn both agree that Rosedale has brought them closer together while allowing them to pursue their unique agricultural and entrepreneurial passions in a completely complimentary way.

Lynn says: "Take time to smell the flowers! And don't forget to change the water each day for your Rosedale bouquet."

Marshall says: "The secret to success is love what you do and who you're doing it with. I've got the best of both!"

Morgan Wilson

Morgan Wilson

Winemaker, Vineyard Manager, Marketing Director

Morgan comes to us from Suffield, CT where he grew up working his grandparent’s vegetable farm and neighbor’s tobacco fields. When the tobacco work was done for the day, one of his neighbors had a small vineyard and he would occasionally help prune and harvest. Fast forward to 2014 Morgan sent us an email asking if he might be able to help out with some of the vineyard work and marketing of the farm as an intern. He had so much fun that year that he has been with us ever since! In 2015 he graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with a B.S. in International Business with a minor in Sustainability as well as another B.S. in Marketing. Upon graduation he moved back to Connecticut and joined us as a full-time employee.

Morgan studied under our original winemaker, Charles Stephenson, for five years before taking over upon Charles’ retirement. Morgan can often be found out in the vineyard tending to the vines, working the wine bar on weekends and operating our new winery facility. He enjoys experimenting with new grape varietals and winemaking styles, often bringing an international flair to our Connecticut wine. We’re excited to see what he will bring to our wine program in the future!

Morgan says: “Some of the best feelings and conversations come from finishing a bottle of quality wine on a Monday night."
