Rosedale Farms & Vineyards newest venture is a three-acre vineyard and wine bar offering tastings, private gatherings, wine discounts, and gifts. Our first vintage was in 2005, and since then Rosedale Vineyards has captured medals in several prestigious wine competitions.

2010 Vineyard & Winery International Eastern Wine Competition

One of the oldest and largest competitions in the United States, this event is held each May in the Finger Lakes region of New York, topping over 2,200 entries in the recent years with wines from 16 countries an 34 states.

The '08 Lou's Red wins the first ever double-gold. Listed as the top award of its class for Red Vinifera/Hybrid Blends up to $25.

The '08 Farmington River Red took home a bronze.

23rd Annual Tasters Guild International Commercial Wine Competition

The judging was conducted over three days at the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. Entries from 32 states/provinces and 10 countries were represented; with 333 wineries entering a total of 1,644 wine varieties. Votes were tallied on May 1, 2010.

Simsbury Celebration

Our Seyval Blanc is the prominent grape in Rosedale’s Simsbury Celebration, presenting a complex bouquet of citrus flavors wrapped around a balanced structure of round fruit and pleasant acids. Soft mineral overtones drawn from the soils of the Farmington River Valley reveal themselves on the finish.

Serendipity

This wine is truly a serendipitous blend from our Simsbury vineyards, prominently featuring Vignoles (veen-yole) grapes with contributions from several of our other varieties. The 2009 Serendipity stands apart with a smooth, nearly creamy texture and soft fruit profile with noticeable hints of butterscotch and almonds.

Three Sisters

Our Cayuga grapes take the lead in Three Sisters. This year’s wine departs from the delicate Alsatian style of previous years and assumes a more aggressive posture of bright acids wound around a citrus base of green apple and lime.

Summer Bouquet

Rosedale’s Seyval Blanc and Vidal grapes move to a whole new level when married with the essence of red raspberry. Finished in a semi-dry fashion, this wine offers a floral bouquet of citrus and ripe raspberry which is happy either with a meal or served with a dessert.

Lou’s Red

Lou’s Red weaves in the brightness of Rosedale’s estate grown St. Croix and the blackberry flavors of our Marchal Foch against a background of California Merlot grapes. Overlaid with a hint of Sangiovese, the result is a complex fruit forward wine with subdued tannins.

Farmington River Red

This year’s Farmington R iver Red is 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe dark fruit blends with a trace of anise, chocolate and dried sage to yield an elegant, medium bodied wine encompassed within a structure of soft, approachable tannins.

Our Tasting Room

Rosedale offers wine tastings from the first weekend of July through October:

• Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm
• Friday “Readjustment Hours” from 5-7pm

Tastings are $5 per person, and include a sampling of six wines and a Rosedale wine glass that’s yours to keep.
